FAQ- Frequently Asked Questions

HOW OLD SHOULD MY BABY BE FOR A NEWBORN SESSION?

A newborn session is usually taken in the first 10 days after baby is born.  During this time I can capture those curled up and natural sleepy poses.

WHAT IF MY BABY HAS ALREADY ARRIVED OR IS PAST 10 DAYS OLD?

Please contact me anyways... I'd love to fit you in if my schedule allows.  It is still possible to capture beautiful images even with an older newborn.

HOW LONG IS THE NEWBORN SESSION?

Sessions are 2.5 - 4 hours long depending on the needs of the baby and type of session.  I allow plenty of time for soothing, cuddling and feeding baby.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY SESSION?

The sooner you book the better to ensure availability.  Newborns are my specialty and I take a limited number per month.  When you have a due date we can reserve your session.  As the day draws near we can adjust the date.  I request that clients contact me while in the hospital, which allows a little more flexibility with scheduling.  The newborn session must be paid in full to reserve your session.

WHERE DO THE SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?

My cozy natural light studio in downtown Grand Forks , 13 N 3rd St., provides the perfect environment with newborns and parents in mind.  I have an abundance of beautiful blankets, wraps, hats, ti-backs, and accessories in soft and neutral colors.

WHAT TIME ARE SESSIONS?

Newborn sessions are scheduled at 9:00/9:30 am Monday-Friday.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPHY PARENT(S) WITH BABY?

I highly encourage moms and dads to have pictures taken with their baby.  Nothing compares to the beauty of a mommy and a fresh newborn in her arms or capturing the sweet gaze into daddy's eyes.

ARE SIBLINGS ALLOWED TO COME TO SESSION?

Photos with siblings are my favorites too..often a challenge but so worth it!  It works best if a family member/friend can bring siblings at the end of the session.  However, depending on nap schedules of little ones we can adjust.  Either way, it is too long for them to stay for the entire session as they will become bored and antsy... taking away from your newborn portrait experience.

MAY OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS/FRIENDS COME TO THE SESSION?

The studio space is small and having others at the session can be distracting.  I work my best when I can focus on your baby and create a more relaxed session for you as well.  If you would like someone else at the session please discuss this with me before the session date.
